Taekwondo Seminar and Winter Grading

Students from Beccles and Bungay Taekwondo Clubs gathered for a winter grading and Taekwondo seminar hosted at Bungay High School where 50 students took their next examination in order to move up to the next belt in this Olympic martial art. 

Seven students passed their provisional black belt meaning they can now get ready to take the full black belt examination in May, whilst all students demonstrated great enthusiasm and endurance during the four hour seminar where a range of techniques, patterns, self-defence, sparring and destruction were all tested alongside Korean terminology.

Mr Steve King (Sixth Degree) said that standards were excellent and they were all a credit to the region and their instructors whilst Mr Darren Twelvetree (Fourth Degree) commentated on how eager students were to listen and respond to advice and guidance.

It is now a perfect time to start getting fit following on from the excesses of Christmas and the sport of Taekwondo is an excellent and fun way of losing weight, gaining fitness and suppleness as well as developing self-confidence alongside real self defence capabilities.

Both clubs are family orientated with many parents training alongside their children in order to gain new skills and a sense of wellbeing.

Members will now be concentrating on their training for the British National Tournament which takes place on the 25th October in Coventry, where they will be competing for medals against Taekwondo students from all over the UK, in sparring, patterns and destruction!

Training takes place all year with the next grading set just before Christmas.
